The Scarf is a Record breaking attempt in support of a community building in Ashby de la Zouch.

The Scarf is the vision of Sam Hampton, who was born and bred in Ashby de la Zouch.

For one week in 27 September to 4 October 2014 the people of Ashby de la Zouch are coming together to knit. The aim is to set a new world record for the longest scarf knitted in a seven day period.

You can be involved. There are three aims for The Scarf.

  • To raise the profile of the plan to build a Community Centre for Ashby de la Zouch
  • To raise initial funds for the project, and mainly other local ventures
  • To bring people together from across the spectrum of people who care for the future of Ashby de la Zouch

The plan is that teams of up to five will work together to knit a scarf each. Wool and training will be provided.

Each entrant will contribute a £5 entry fee and get as many sponsors as possible.

You can register online, or using a paper form. Teams must register by Sunday 7 September, so that all the wool can be purchased.

How do I register?

Just fill in a registration form online or print a paper copy and send it to the address on the form, or drop it in at the Tourist Information Office.
